OK, that’s what I wanted to see!

Not that anybody cares, but I’m a big Kansas City Chiefs fan. Today, the Chiefs won their 2nd game in their last 21 outings.
Yeah, it moves us down for a draft pick, but a win over the Raiders makes it all worthwhile.

The only thing…

… that could make this a better weekend would be for the Chiefs to beat the Raiders.
TSO was fantastic. Al, I hope your knee gets better soon. I’ve had two ACL reconstructions, and the rehab can be a painful.
Rock Chalk, Jayhawk, KU! I need to ask the Kansas Football Team’s forgiveness. I really thought they [...]

Tomorrow, I rediscover my holiday spirit.

Every year sine my twenties, I’ve had difficulty finding the Christmas spirit. I think part of it has to do with times when I was a kid when I worked in retail and they had that wretched muzak pumping out carol after carol. Perry Como to Andy Williams to Wayne Newton to Tennessee Ernie Ford [...]

Almost the end of the workweek for me…

I’ve got a small bird to smoke (apple or cherry wood). Need to brine it overnight first. In the meantime, I’ll ponder the things I have to be thankful for.
I have a wonderful life, with a terrific woman who puts up with my quirks. I have three happy, healthy, smart & talented kids. I’m happy [...]

Something I told my kids about curse words

Curse words have power.  They hold a special place in our vocabulary, and they have their time and place.  The one important thing to remember about them is that the more you use them the less power they have.

Thank you, Channel 4!

As an IT professional, I have some television viewing habits. Love the Discovery Channel, the History Channel, the Science Channel, and a few others that are more informative than entertaining. Over the last few months, however, I came across a BBC television show that cracks me up - “The IT Crowd” on BBC Channel 4. If [...]

A good week

Students make all the difference in the world. This week I’ve been having a pretty good time teaching this week because the students I’ve had make me happy to be the guy in the front of the room. It’s been alot of fun.
Thanks.

What if that was the last thing you’d ever say to that person?

I was talking with my youngest daughter yesterday (and I meant to blog this last night). She was angry with her brother and said some things that were pretty mean.
I had to talk with her about it. I asked her, “How would you feel if your brother got hit by a bus, and you had [...]

Instant Karma’s Gonna Get You

You didn’t notice me, but I noticed you. The guy in the beat up old blue Chebby.
Was it an emergency? I doubt it. Yet you whipped into that handicapped parking space, then deftly hung that blue dangler from the rear view mirror.
You then walked quickly into the HyVee to pick up whatever it was you [...]

The Internet Paula Deen Diabetic Coma Counter

Someone has to create one of these. I wish I could eat everything the woman cooks on TV, but you gotta know that if someone ate a diet of only Paula Deen prepared meals, they’d get a quantity discount on their angioplasties.
Anyway, if you have a counter that would be appropriate, forward it to me [...]
